Pryor Veterinary Hospital South

I took my kitty in around 8 am on a Saturday. I went into this location because I love Salina Vet their sister clinic and have had a great relationship with the veterinary doctor there and they were unfortunately closed that day. I brought my cat in because he was showing severe signs of lethargy, lack of appetite and not going to the bathroom or drinking water. I was terrified because I was looking up all kinds of things it could be. The one that stood out the most was bobcat fever. Which if it were diagnosed would mean my kitty would need emergency care. However, they took blood and within minutes told me it could be something like a virus. I was told to give him two kinds of medication. This was after I had told them I pulled multiple ticks off of my kitty and that I thought it could be bobcat fever. They mentioned they didn't have any animals with that around here. I was only sent home with the two medications and no knowledge of what would happen next. They just said to call Monday with an update. My cat passed away the following day. It was one of the worst situations I have ever gone through. If he needed overnight care at an emergency vet I would have taken him in. But they said to just give him the medications and that he wouldn't take it well, and would probably throw one of them up. So I assumed when he did just that that it was working. Only it escalated within moments and he seized in my arms. They seemed so flustered and rushed that day with animals coming in and out. I came in crying and they could have at least shown some empathy and concern and instead showed that my cat wasn't top priority. Even the front desk ladies were in a bad mood. It was just an awful visit and the vets and staff need to know to change their attitudes. If you don't want to be there get a different job. Animals are a lot of peoples family and deserve the same respect a human patient would get. 2026 has been one of the worst years for bobcat fever in cats in Oklahoma.

This is where I always take my dogs and they've been very, very good with the animals

The vets here are concerned with the health of your fur baby. Patient with my small dog and gental. Love allof them.

This vet was remarkable at helping me through putting my fur baby to sleep forever, and taking care of my other dog. I appreciate them so much and would recommend to anyone. Thank you so much 😊 my baby is forever sleeping 😇
